Afghanistan tops fifth Asian Open Taekwondo Championship

ISLAMABAD: In a thrilling display of talent and skill, Afghanistan claimed the top honors at the fifth COMBAXX Asian Open Taekwondo Championship, securing two gold and two silver medals.
Pakistan clinched the second position, earning two gold, one silver, and an impressive seven bronze medals. Meanwhile, the Kazakhstan team secured the third spot, earning one gold and four silver medals.
The championship showcased fierce competition and outstanding performances from athletes representing various nations.

The prize distribution ceremony of this prestigious championship witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including the President of the Asian Taekwondo Union, Prof. Kyu Seok Lee, legendary squash player Jahangir Khan, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin, Ambassador of Nepal Tapas Adhikaw, President of PTF Colonel (retd) Waseem Janjua, Technical Delegate of the Championship Kook Hyun Jung, and CEO Umar Saeed, who presented the awards to the deserving athletes.
During the final day of the 5th COMBAXX Asian Taekwondo Open Championship, the Kyorugi event featured competitions in four different weight categories. Pakistani women shown in one category, whereby in the women’s -62 kg category final, Serbia’s Nadja Savkpvic exhibited outstanding prowess, securing the gold with a 2-1 victory over Pakistan’s Zoya Sabir. Pakistan’s Sara Rehman and Hajra Shakeel both secured bronze and fourth place, respectively.
In the women’s +73 category final, Kazakhstan’s Cansel Deniz displayed remarkable skills, securing a 2-0 victory against Pakistan’s Manisha Ali, earning the gold medal. Pakistan’s Hira Khan claimed the bronze, and Pakistan’s Nuzrat Mumtaz secured the fourth bronze medal.
