Army, Rangers to be deployed for tri-nation cricket series

LAHORE: The Interior Ministry has approved the deployment of the Pakistan Army and Rangers from February 5 to 10 for security during the upcoming tri-nation cricket series.
The Punjab Home Department had written to the federal government following a request from the police.
During the matches, one company each of the Pakistan Army and Punjab Rangers will be deployed
The tri-nation cricket series will feature teams from Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa. Matches on February 8 and 10 will be held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

New Zealand’s team is set to arrive in Pakistan on Monday night, while both Pakistan and the Kiwis will hold a floodlight practice session at Gaddafi Stadium on February 6. The third team, South Africa, will land in Pakistan on February 7.
To prepare for both the tri-series and the ICC Champions Trophy, the Pakistan cricket team’s training camp will begin on Monday at LCC Ground. A 15-member squad led by Mohammad Rizwan has already been announced for both tournaments.
The final league match and the final of the tri-nation series will be played in Karachi.
The ICC Champions Trophy will run from February 19 to March 9. Matches will be held in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi, while the Indian team will play its matches in the UAE.
