Arshad Nadeem honoured as ‘Best Asian Athlete’

WEB DESK: Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem was crowned ‘Best Asian Athlete’ by Asian Athletics at a ceremony in Gumi, South Korea, on Sunday.

The award recognises the javelin thrower’s remarkable contributions to the sport, cementing his status as one of Asia’s finest athletes.

Expressing gratitude on X, Arshad wrote: “Honoured to receive the ‘Best Male Athlete of Asia’ award. I am humbled and recharged to give better performances.”

The ceremony followed the Asian Athletics meeting, attended by officials including South Asian Athletics Chairman Major General (retd) Muhammad Akram Sahi and Athletics Federation of Pakistan President Brigadier (retd) Wajahat Hussain Sahi.

Arshad, Pakistan’s first individual Olympic gold medalist (Paris 2024, 92.97m throw), boasts four golds, one silver, and four bronze medals across major tournaments, including the World Championships and Commonwealth Games.

The accolade reflects Pakistan’s rising athletics profile as Arshad prepares for the upcoming Asian Athletics Championship in South Korea. Arshad vowed to strive for greater achievements after receiving prestigious award.
