WEB DESK: Pakistan’s esports legend Arslan Ash has once again cemented his status as the undisputed king of Tekken, claiming his sixth Evolution Championship Series (EVO) title with a thrilling win over fellow Pakistani star Atif Butt in the Grand Final of EVO 2025.
In a dream matchup in Las Vegas that had fans around the world on edge, Arslan and Atif, two of Pakistan’s finest, battled their way through elite international contenders to face off in an all-Pakistani final in Las Vegas.
Arslan, navigating the upper bracket, showcased his trademark composure and technical brilliance to defeat Atif 3-1 in the Grand Final, despite dropping the first set. With this win, he pocketed USD12,000 and 800 tour points, further extending his legendary legacy: “We play each other every day and know each other’s weaknesses,” Arslan said after the match. “We can’t hide from each other. It’s 50/50.”
Atif, who surged through the lower bracket with determination, acknowledged the tough fight. “I really wanted to win, but I’m very happy with second place,” he said.
Their clash wasn’t just a battle for the title, it was a testament to Pakistan’s dominance on the global Tekken stage. Between them, Arslan and Atif have turned the international spotlight on Pakistan’s thriving esports scene.

While Arslan has expressed concerns about the growing number of EVO events possibly diluting the brand, his focus remains clear: playing with passion. “Only do it if you love video games,” he advised aspiring players. Atif echoed the sentiment, urging newcomers to learn from professionals and stay committed.
With six EVO titles to his name, across both Tekken 7 and Tekken 8, Arslan Ash’s reign continues, and Pakistan’s rise in global esports shows no signs of slowing.
