DUBAI: The UAE Cricket Board on Thursday confirmed a 17-member squad for the upcoming DP World Asia Cup 2025, with prolific opener Muhammad Waseem retained as captain. The tournament begins in Abu Dhabi on September 9 and features the UAE in Group A alongside India, Oman, and Pakistan.

The UAE open their campaign against India at Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday, September 10, followed by a clash with Oman at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 15. Their final group-stage fixture will be a much-anticipated showdown against Pakistan at Dubai International Stadium on September 17. The top two sides from each group will advance to the Super Four stage starting September 21.

As of now, UAE is struggling to survive against Pakistan and Afghanistan in the T20 Tri Series in Sharjah.

The squad balances experience with youth, highlighting the UAE’s growing depth in white-ball cricket. Alongside skipper Waseem, the batting line-up includes Alishan Sharafu, Aryansh Sharma, Asif Khan, Ethan D’Souza, Rahul Chopra, and Simranjeet Singh. All-round options come from Harshit Kaushik, Muhammad Farooq, and Dhruv Parashar, while the bowling attack is spearheaded by experienced seamer Junaid Siddique and left-arm quick Muhammad Jawadullah. They are supported by spinners Haider Ali, Rohid Khan, and Muhammad Zohaib, with Saghir Khan and Matiullah Khan adding further pace and variety.
