Asian Games 2023: India beats Pakistan 10-2 in hockey

HANGZHOU: India secured a resounding 10-2 victory against Pakistan in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 hockey tournament held in Hangzhou, China.
According to media reports, the Men in Blue took an early lead, netting two goals in the first quarter, courtesy of their skipper, Harmanpreet Singh, and Mandeep Singh, each contributing one goal. India’s dominance continued into the second quarter, doubling their lead to 4-0.
Facing an uphill battle, the Men in Green made an earnest effort to stage a comeback, managing to score two goals.
However, India maintained their relentless pursuit of the net, tallying three more goals in the third quarter and an additional three in the fourth and final quarter, ultimately securing an impressive 10-2 triumph over Pakistan.

Harmanpreet Singh led India’s scoring with four goals, while Varun Kumar contributed two goals. Mandeep Singh, Sumit, Shamsher Singh, and Lalit Kumar Upadhyay each added one goal to India’s dominant performance.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Sufyan Khan and Waheed Rana Ashraf managed to score one goal each for the Green Shirts.
The Men in Green are now poised to face Japan on October 2. Pakistan’s path to the semi-finals hinges on a draw, while Japan must secure a victory to secure a spot in the final four.
In earlier tournament action, Pakistan claimed a 5-2 victory over Bangladesh in their second pool match, following a resounding 11-0 win over Singapore in their opening match.
