WALSALLA: Aston Villa showed a strong pre-season form with a 4-0 victory of AS Roma in a friendly match at the Pallet-Trick Bescot Stadium on Wednesday.

From the outset, Aston Villa set the pace, testing Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar with early threats. Leon Bailey’s powerful strike forced an early save and signalled the host’s attacking intent.

The deadlock was broken in the fifteenth when Emiliano Buendia expertly kicked a free kick that soared into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper no chance.

Shortly after, Jacob Ramsey increased the lead with a sharp finish after a well-timed though ball from Youri Tielemans sliced through Roma’s defensive line.

Aston Villa continued to press, dominating over Roma and leaving no chances. Before halftime, Ollie Watkins help Villa score 3 goals.

The second half saw a technical shift as Aston Villa’s manager Unai Emery rotated his squad extensively. He introduced fresh players to maintain intensity and assess options.

Roma grew into the game in the second period and even came close to halving the deficit but their efforts fell short.

Aston Villa sealed their victory as Donyell Malen calmly helped his team score the fourth goal.

Morgan Rogers’ exited the match prematurely due to an injury. The severity of his condition has yet to be ascertained.

The victory follows Aston Villa’s previous season success, where they secured Europa League qualification. It will also help the team as they gear up to face Marseille and Villarreal.
