Babar Azam to play in Peshawar charity match

ISLAMABAD: National team batter Babar Azam will represent Peshawar Zalmi in a charity match to support flood-affected people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The exhibition game, themed “Khel Se Khidmat” (service through sports), will be held at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar on August 30.

Former captain Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan and Kamran Akmal are also expected to feature in the match, which will be played before a crowd of 17,000 at the under-construction venue.

Tickets are priced at Rs1,000 for general seats, while 200 VVIP and 800 VIP tickets are also available.

Each VVIP enclosure seat is priced at Rs50,000, with tickets purchased by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and cabinet members.

The match will start at 1:00pm local time, with all proceeds from ticket sales going towards flood relief efforts.

Separately, a tri-nation series featuring Afghanistan, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates will begin tomorrow (Friday), with Pakistan set to face Afghanistan in the opening clash at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan’s 17-member squad will be led by Salman Ali Agha, who has captained the side in 18 matches.

The third team in the tri-nation series is the United Arab Emirates, with the final set to be played between the top two sides on Sunday, September 7.

All matches will take place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
