Babar second only to Gayle in T20 tons tally

PALLEKELE: Pakistan captain Babar Azam has become only the second cricketer to slam 10 centuries in T20 cricket.

Star batsman Azam achieved the feat in the Lanka Premier League match between Colombo Strikers and Galle Titans, which the former won by seven wickets.

Azam, who represents Colombo, scored 104 off 59 balls to help his side sucessfully chase 189 in 19.5 overs.

The 28-year-star, currently ranked third in ICC T20I batter rankings, has scored three T20 hundreds at the international level, two each in the Vitality Blast and National T20 Cup, for Somerset and Central Punjab, respectively. He also has a hundred in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Peshawar Zalmi and another in a tour match against Leicestershire.

‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle is the only other player to score more than 10 T20 centuries, leading the tally with 22 tons in 463 matches.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has scored 8 T20 centuries, the third highest for any player.
