Bangladesh all out at 307, Rabada takes six

Rabada

MIRPUR: Bangladesh only managed to make a lead of 106 runs, after a good second innings that was stopped by Kagiso Rabada, and will likely be in vain thanks to their poor showing in their first innings.

KAGISO RABADA

Mehidy Hasan Miraz did all he could to try and give Bangladesh a fighting chance, falling just short of a century at 97 runs off 191 balls. He hit ten fours in the process along with one six. He was the last wicket to fall for Bangladesh, when he was dismissed I the 90th over, on a delivery from Kagiso Rabada. Mehidy tried to back away from the back of length dfelviery, trying to get some height on his shot. Unfortunately, he didn’t get enough, as the ball was caught by Wiaan Mulder.

That would be the final wicket of Rabada’s incredible spell, in which he took down six Bangladesh batters. He would begin by taking down Shadman Islam ont eh first ball he faced, as his delivery found an inside edge before being caught by Tony de Zorzi. A few balls later Mominul Haque would be dismissed, after floating the ball to Wiaan Mulder at slip.

Rabada would send of Mahmudul Hasan Joy in the 32nd over, finding the top edge of Joy’s bat, before David Bedingham took the catch. Joy was sent off just short of a half century. In similar fashion to his first couple wickets, another Bangladeshi would fall a few balls after Joy. Mushfiqur Rahim would be bowled, as the delivery swung into him before taking out the middle stump.

Nayeem Hassan would fall in the 86th over, Rabada’s first of day 4, sending the ball into the front pad of Hassan for his fifth wicket.

KESHAV MAHARAJ

Keshav Maharaj took three wickets of his own, with the most vital coming in the 76th over, in which he dismissed Jaker Ali who had made a half century. Ali was hit on his left leg, after the ball missed the inside edge of his bat. Ball tracking showed the leg stump was a goner, and Ali was dismissed.

Maharaj started off his spell by dismissing Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto in the 19th over. The captain only managed to make 23 runs before being sent off on the 49th ball he faced. Maharaj’s delivery hit Shanto’s front leg as his attempt to defend failed. It was a clear lbw that the captain didn’t bother reviewing.

Litton Das was sent off in the 35th over, after only scoring seven runs off 15 delveries. The ball went past Das and into the gloves of wicket keeper Kyle Verreynne. South Africa skipper reviewed the delivery, and UltraEdge showed that Maharaj had found the slightest of edges.

WIAAN MULDER

Wiaan Mulder would take one wicket as well, sending off Taijul Islam, who poked at the ball, only managing to get the edge of his bat on the delivery, sending the ball to second slip, where Tristan Stubbs took the catch.

South Africa have already made 42 runs, only needing 64 more to win.

Shadman Islam fell first on the seventh ball he faced. The delivery by Rabada clipped an inside edge, and a quick reaction by Tony de Zorzi ended the Bangladesh openers innings for only one run.

Mominul Haque was dismissed a few balls later, as the delivery made contact with the shoulder of Haque’s bat before floating off to Wiaan Mulder at slip.
