Boxer Usman Wazeer beats India’s Eswaran in first round

GILGIT: Pakistani boxing star Usman Wazeer, also known as “The Asian Boy,” continued his winning streak by defeating India’s S. Eswaran in a quick and exciting match in Bangkok on Thursday.

The welterweight division fight ended in just 1 minute and 41 seconds when the referee stopped it, giving Wazeer a win by technical knockout (TKO).

Wazeer, who is unbeaten in his career, now has 16 wins with no losses. The 25-year-old Boxer from Astore Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan started strong, landing the first punch and controlling the fight. Eswaran tried to counter, but Wazeer’s speed and power were too much.

Wazeer’s precision proved too much for the Indian contender, as he sent Eswaran to the canvas twice within the first round. The referee stopped the bout shortly after the second knockdown, awarding Wazeer a TKO victory.

Speaking after the match, Wazeer expressed gratitude to his sponsors and the Sindh government for their support, while also using the moment to promote harmony between the two neighbouring nations.

“Alhamdulillah for this victory,” Wazeer said. “I am grateful to Highland Boxing Promotion and all the sponsors who made this possible. I saw online that this fight was being portrayed as a war between India and Pakistan. I want to say — we are athletes, not soldiers. We want peace.”
