British-Pakistani boxer, Adam Azim, thrashes Sergey Lipinets

LONDON: In a highly anticipated matchup at Wembley Arena in London, Pakistani-origin British boxer Adam Azim showcased his boxing prowess by stopping former International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion, Sergey Lipinets in a brutal performance.
The fight took place on Saturday, and saw Azim improvise his record to 13-0, with ten of those victories coming by knockout.

Adam Azim entered the ring, determined to win. He displayed a variety of speed and quickness by utilising his jabs effectively against the Kazakh-Russian boxer. Lipinets had been looking to apply pressure but struggled to land significant punches. As the fight progressed, Azim began targeting Lipinet’s body, landing several powerful shots that showcased his speed.
The turning point came in the third round when the Russian boxer, eager to increase the pace, walked directly into a vicious left hook from Azim, resulting in a knockout.
Although Sergey Lipinets managed to get back on his feet, he was given a brief reprieve in the fourth round when referee Stee Gray deducted a point form Adam Azim for a low blow.
Azim, unfazed, continued to dominate, with his right uppercut becoming a key weapon in the fifth round, repeatedly snapping Lipinets’ head back.
Despite a second point deduction for another low blow in the seventh round, Azim maintained control of the fight. The eighth round was particularly brutal, as Azim focused solely on uppercuts, leaving the Russian visibly shaken.
The fight concluded in the night round when Azim unleashed a flurry of uppercuts, forcing the referee to step in and stop the contest.
By this point, Lipinets’ face was marked and bloodied, a testament to Azim’s lightning-quick strikes.
Post-fight, the Pakistani-British boxer expressed his desire to face Dalton Smith, stating that “You better be watching my friend. You ain’t that good, my friend; I’m coming.
“When I do fight him, I am gonna teach him a lesson”.
He also reflected on his performance, acknowledging the challenges he faced with Lipinets’ low stance and the need for patience in the ring.

Despite his victory, Azim’s performance was not without its faults. The boxer received two point deductions for low blows thurhgout the fight. Lipinets also landed a low blow in the eighth round, bringing the total to five low blows in the entire match.
