GUJRANWALA: A petition has been filed in the District and Sessions Court of Gujranwala regarding the national cricket team’s poor performance in the World Cup. The lawyer has sought registration of a case under sections 22A and 22B of the Criminal Code.

The petition, filed against all players – including captain Babar Azam, team management, and coach claims the team’s performance is a waste of money and has brought dishonour to the nation.

It alleges that tens of millions of rupees have been squandered and the players, adding that the management prioritises financial gain over national pride.

The petition highlights the emotional impact of losses against the United States and India, calling for a ban on the team until an inquiry is conducted and a report submitted to the Home Secretary.

Furthermore, the petition argues that the appointment of political chairmen and coaches leads to such outcomes. The local court has directed the police to respond by 21 June.
