Curry unconscious from three, goes eight for eight from deep

Curry

SAN FRANCISCO: Golden State got a much-needed win on Thursday night after the Warriors lost four of their last five. They beat the Philadelphia 76ers in emphatic fashion, behind an arguably perfect performance from Stephen Curry.

Number 30 had 30 points in the near 30 minutes he played against the 76ers. Unsurprisingly, the most impressive stat of the night for Curry related to his excellence from three. What was surprising however, was the fact that he didn’t miss even once from deep.

Curry went eight for eight from beyond the arc, just one short for the NBA record for most threes without a miss.

THE GAME

Curry set the tone for the night after hitting his first three within the first 30 seconds of the match. The Warriors star then dished two dimes in the next few minutes to Dennis Schroder who converted his first two attempts from beyond the arc. Golden State ended the quarter with a barrage of threes in the last minute and a half. Schroder, Moses Moody, and Buddy Hield all hit their three pointers, giving the Warriors a 16-point lead as they headed into the second frame.

The second quarter was a more hotly contested contest, with both teams scoring 33 points. Curry had eight more points in the quarter, six of them from two more threes. Joel Embiid found his way to the line a few times, scoring five of his nine points from free throws. The Warriors maintained their 16-point lead heading into the third.

Curry hit his fourth three of the game off the dribble in the early moments of the third. His fifth three came off an almost botched possession, as Buddy Hield nearly lost the ball, but managed to hand it off to Curry who immediately sunk another shot from three. Moments later Curry would have his sixth, banking in a three after casually dribbling down the court. Golden State were up 25 by the end of the quarter.

Curry his final two threes early into the final frame, within seconds of each other. The first was his longest of the game, just a couple steps beyond the logo. Soon after that shot rattled in, Curry grabbed the rebound off a missed shot from Tyrese Maxey, charged down the court, and sunk his final three of the game.

The Warriors blew out the 76ers 139 to 105. Curry led all scorers with 30 points and had the most assists with ten. Embiid had 28 points for Philadelphia as well as 14 rebounds.
