Inzamam-ul-Haq

LAHORE: Former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has said that “the privilege of being chosen as the chief selector of the national cricket team is an honour I hold dear, and I extend my gratitude to Zaka Ashraf for his role in my selection.”

Talking to the media, he said that efforts were under way to incorporate former cricketers into cricket matters, a move that promises a positive trajectory.

“This endeavoir builds upon the legacy I upheld before as a former captain.”

Recalling the past era of glory when Pakistan secured the Champions Trophy victory, Inzamam affirmed his role as chief selector.

“The cricketers selected, constituting 70 to 80 percent of the teams, have evolved into a vital component of today’s line-ups, he said.

He said that the team composition has grown to stability from the initial phase of forming teams. Present challenges stand at a distance from the initial hurdles, he said.

Heading the selection committee in Pakistan presents a formidable task, said Inzamam who has previously taken the role with conviction, given this year’s rigors, including the Asia Cup, World Cup, and the Australia tour.

Undeterred, Inzamam vowed to discharge responsibilities in an enhanced manner, leveraging lessons learned to guide the team forward.

He said that despite the constraints of time, meticulous effort will be made in selecting the finest teams.

“Despite time constraints, we will choose the best teams possible,” affirmed Inzamam, vowing to steer Pakistan’s cricket towards new heights.
