Duckett steadies England after losing Crawley

Duckett

MULTAN: England trailed by 324 runs as they broke for lunch on Wednesday. Despite a tough start for the English side, losing their second wicket in the fifth over of the day, they were able to gain momentum and put runs on the board thanks to Ben Duckett.

After losing captain Ollie Pope on the second ball he faced on Tuesday, thanks to an incredible one-handed catch from Aamer Jamal, England looked to be in trouble early on Wednesday as well.

Jamal sent a chill down English fan’s spines again, after he caught out Zac Crawley in the 25th over. England’s opener hit a couple of fours before caught out on a delivery from Shaheen Shah Afridi. Crawley headed off the pitch with 78 runs from 85 balls.

In came Ben Duckett, and it didn’t take long for him to make his presence felt. In the very next over he hit a pair of back to back fours. He hit another three a few overs later in the 30th, with one shot scaring English fans as the ball skimmed over the head of mid-on.

They were victim to another fright in the 32nd over, as Naseem Shah managed to find the edge of Duckett’s bat, but the man at first slip didn’t react, letting the ball run to the boundary.

Ducket continued to impress, hitting 11 fours by the Lunch break, scoring 80 runs of 67 deliveries. Joe Root helped maintain a steady shit, hitting five fours, bringing his total to 72 off 118 balls. The two together have made a partnership of 119 runs already.

England currently stands at 232 for 2, trailing by 324 runs. If Duckett continues to hit, and the Brits are able to maintain their momentum, they will likely have a lead by the end of the day.
