England squad for 2025 Women’s World Cup revealed, Knight included

ENGLAND: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced a 15-member squad its squad for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, with right-hand batter Heather Knight included.

The 13th edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, an eight-team event, will be held in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2, 2025.

The England Women’s selectors have named a 15-member squad to represent the side at the marquee event. India had earlier become the first team to announce their squad as they chase their maiden title.

Nat Sciver-Brunt (C), Em Arlott, Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Alice Capsey, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones, Heather Knight, Emma Lamb, Linsey Smith, Danni Wyatt-Hodge.

India Women squad:

Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, Yastika Bhatia, Renuka Singh Thakur, Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Sree Charani, Radha Yadav, Amanjot Kaur, Arundhati Reddy, Kranti Gaud.

Opener Shafali Verma was left out of India’s squad on Tuesday for the upcoming 50-over Women’s World Cup tournament after recent patchy form.

Verma, an explosive batter who last played a one-day international for India in October 2024, has scored just one half-century in six innings for India A.

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the 15-member squad for the 13th edition of the women’s showpiece tournament, which begins on September 30.

Co-hosts India are set to face Sri Lanka in the opener in Bengaluru.
