Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi improve ICC rankings

DUBAI: Several Pakistani cricketers saw their International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings improve after performing well during the ongoing T20 International (T20I) series between Pakistan and England.

Batsman Fakhar Zaman rose six spots to the 51st position on the batting list, while Shaheen Afridi climbed three spots to sit at the eleventh position on the bowling chart.

Imad Wasim moved up four places to twelfth in the all-rounders rankings. Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam had maintained their respective positions at third and fourth place in the T20I batting rankings.

In the broader context of international cricket rankings, India’s Suryakumar Yadav had led the T20 batting rankings, closely followed by England’s Phil Salt. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga had topped the all-rounder category, trailed by Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan.

Kane Williamson and Joe Root claimed the top two spots in the ICC Test batting rankings, while Babar Azam had held the third place. In one-day internationals (ODIs), Babar Azam leads the batting rankings, followed by Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli.

On the bowling front, Ravichandran Ashwin tops the ICC Test bowling rankings, followed by Josh Hazlewood and Jasprit Bumrah. South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj lead the ODI bowling rankings, with Australia’s Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa following closely.

Meanwhile, Adil Rashid heads the T20I bowling rankings, with Wanindu Hasaranga and Axar Patel securing the second and third positions, respectively.
