On the international stage, Pepe represented Portugal in four World Cups and five European Championships. He was a key player in Portugal victory in Euro 2016, earning man of the match title in the final.

The footballer from Portugal also contributed to their UEFA Nations League win in 2019. Over his international career, he earned 141 caps and became the oldest player at Euro 2024 before Portugal’s quarter-final exit marked his final appearance.
