French Open shock: Rafael Nadal’s early exit rocks tennis world


PARIS: In a surprising upset at the French Open tennis tournament in Paris, former world number one Rafael Nadal of Spain was ousted from the event after a first-round loss on Monday.

Germany’s Alexander Zverev secured a crushing victory over the 14-time French Open champion, winning in straight sets with scores of 6-3, 7-6, and 6-3.

Meanwhile, in another men’s singles match, Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka defeated Britain’s Andy Murray, eliminating him from the tournament with a score of 6-4, 6-4, and 6-2.

In contrast, Spain’s Carlos Alcarez, currently ranked world number two, comfortably advanced to the next round by defeating JJ Wolff of the United States.

In the women’s singles category, Japan’s Naomi Osaka secured a victory over Italy’s Lucia Branzetti, earning her a spot in the second round of the tournament.
