Full toss: PCB chairman rejects domestic T20 pay cuts

PCB Chairman

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has taken notice of the recent PCB decision to reduce match fees.

Earlier this week, the PCB had announced 90 per cent deduction in the cricket fees of domestic cricketers in National T20 Tournament. However, on Thursday, the PCB spokesperson said that the chairman has prohibited reducing match fees of players.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has also issued instructions to Director Domestic Cricket Abdullah Khurram Niazi in this regard. Orders have also been issued to immediately review the match fees for all players.

EARLIER DECISION

The per-match fee of players playing National T20 were reduced from Rs 100,000 to Rs 10,000. Moreover, the reserve players were to receive only Rs 5,000.

The rationalisation for this was given that the PCB has spent financial resources on beautifying stadiums. Some of the compensation for the last season has not been paid to players and umpires yet as well. The PCB has not increased the annual pension for former Test cricketers. Put together, the board decided to channel the resources by reducing the remuneration for domestic T20 matches.
