Gill tops ODI batting rankings as Babar Azam slips to fourth

WEB DESK: India’s Shubman Gill has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings, while Pakistan’s Babar Azam received a rude awakening on his birthday as he dropped to fourth, his lowest position in more than two years.

According to the latest update issued on October 14, 2025, Gill leads the chart with a rating of 784 points. Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran climbed to second with 764 points after a strong run against Bangladesh, while India’s Rohit Sharma moved up to third with 756.

Babar, who once held the No. 1 ranking for over two years, now sits at fourth with 739 points. His career-best rating of 898, achieved against the West Indies in 2022, remains among the highest ever recorded by a Pakistani batter.

India’s Virat Kohli completes the top five with 736 points, followed by New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell (720), Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka (716), Ireland’s Harry Tector (708), India’s Shreyas Iyer (704), and West Indies’ Shai Hope (699)

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan continues to dominate the ICC Men’s ODI bowling rankings, maintaining his position at the top with 710 rating points. The leg-spinner, who reached a career-best rating of 799 against Pakistan in 2018, leads South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj, who sits second with 680 points. Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana holds third place with 659 points after consistent performances in 2025.

England’s Jofra Archer, who recently returned to international cricket, has climbed to fourth with a career-high 654 rating, followed by India’s Kuldeep Yadav in fifth with 650. Namibia’s Bernard Scholtz continues to impress at sixth, ahead of New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner (637) and England’s Adil Rashid (628).

Rounding off the top ten are New Zealand’s Matt Henry (622) and India’s Ravindra Jadeja (616). Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, West Indies’ Gudakesh Motie, Australia’s Adam Zampa, India’s Mohammad Shami, and Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi complete the top 15.
