Green-Top wicket prepared for Pindi test as Pakistan eyes fast bowling dominance

test match

LAHORE: The Pakistan cricket team is set to face Bangladesh on a green-top wicket at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with preparations in full swing as the match draws near. Head coach Jason Gillespie and assistant coach Azhar Mehmood inspected the pitch, working closely with Head Pitch Curator Tony Hemming to ensure favourable conditions for fast bowlers.

Sources indicate that Hemming has been instructed to prepare a wicket that will benefit both fast bowlers and batters, potentially leading to an exciting contest. A significant amount of grass has been left on the pitch, signalling a fast and bouncy surface.

In line with the pitch conditions, Pakistan is expected to field a team without a specialist spinner. Abrar Ahmed was released from the national squad yesterday to join Pakistan Shaheens, indicating the team’s strategy to rely heavily on pace.

The fast-bowling attack is likely to feature Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mir Hamza, and Khurram Shahzad.
