WEB DESK: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released new One Day International (ODI) rankings, and Babar Azam has managed to keep his top spot. However, the former skipper barely managed to keep his record, by a small margin.
India’s batter and opener Shubman Gill closely follows Babar Azam on second spot, with India’s Rohit Sharma landing at third spot. Gill gas moved up by one spot in these rankings, and now he is only five points lower than Babar.
Pakistan’s heavy hitter Fakhar Zaman managed to snatch the 13th spot among batsmen rankings.
Pakistan awarded hosting rights for another ICC event
Among the bowlers, Afghanistan’s star Rashid Khan gets to be on No. 1 ranking, while Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi comes fourth. Haris Rauf is ranked 15th in the latest ICC rankings.
PAKISTAN TO HOST ANOTHER ICC EVENT
Earlier today, the ICC announced that after ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, Pakistan has also been awarded the hosting rights for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
The ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers will be held in multiple cities across Pakistan. The qualifiers matches will begin from April 2025.
Six teams, including Pakistan, will participate in the qualifiers matches. These include teams from Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland and Thailand.
