Rankings: Shaheen Afridi claims top spot, Rauf jumps 13 places

WEB DESK: Shaheen Shah Afridi was ranked the worlds best ODI bowler by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in the latest rankings released on Wednesday.

Shaheen Afridi had an incredible performance in the three match ODI series against Australia, which saw Pakistan win the last two matches behind eight wickets from the 24-year-old fast bowler. He is now ranked number one among ODI bowlers, with a rating of 696.

He jumped three spots from his previous ranking of fourth, placing him right above Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and two above South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj. After taking two wickets in Pakistan’s first outing against Australia, Shaheen took three in each of the next two games.

The top wicket taker of Pakistan’s ODI series against Australia, Haris Rauf, jumped four places in the rankings. After taking 10 wickets across the three matches and being named man of the series, Rauf now finds himself ranked 13th among ODI bowlers. He is placed between India’s Mohammed Shani who is ranked 14th, and Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana who is ranked 12th.

Rauf took three wickets in Pakistan’s loss to Australia, before dismissing five and two English Batsmen in the second and third match respectively.
