Imad Wasim hosts press conference ahead of Pakistan-England T20 clash


LEEDS: All-rounder Imad Wasim talked about the critical role of current England-Pakistan T20 international series in shaping the team’s composition and building momentum for the upcoming world cup during a press conference on Monday.

Talking to media personnel during a press conference on Monday in Leeds, United Kingdom (UK), Imad Wasim stated that the team needed to put on a strong performance against England, highlighting its potential to bolster confidence and propel Pakistan forward in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

The upcoming four-match T20I series between Pakistan and England holds significant importance for both teams as they prepare for the upcoming world cup.

The all-rounder underlined the team’s focus on performance, rather than concerns about player workload and injuries. Wasim said that injuries can occur anytime and should not distract from the objective of winning matches.

He said he appreciated the effective management of player workload by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical panel since the home T20I series against New Zealand. The all-rounder assured fans that all players were fit and ready for the upcoming match against England.

Reflecting on Pakistan’s recent performances, Imad Wasim conceded the shortcomings against New Zealand and in the series opener against Ireland. Despite setbacks, he said that the team learnt from the past experience and will maintain a consistent performance throughout the England series.

Wasim noted a tendency for the team to become complacent after victories and stressed the need to remain focused and determined.

Meanwhile, England is also gearing up for the upcoming match against Pakistan on Wednesday. Led by captain Jos Buttler, England’s squad includes a mix of experienced players and promising talents.

The series schedule includes matches on Wednesday and Saturday. The third and fourth matches will be fought on May 28 and May 30.
