DUABI: DUBAI: India made a mockery of UAE’s modest total in a Group A clash of the Men’s T20 Asia Cup, storming to a 9-wicket win in just 4.3 overs.
Bowling first, India skittled UAE out for 57 runs in 11.3 overs, thanks to a clinical bowling effort led by Titas Sadhu (3-6) and Arundhati Reddy (2-7). The UAE batters had no answer to the relentless Indian attack, with six batters failing to score even a single run.
In response, India chased down the target with ease, finishing at 60-1 in 4.3 overs. Abhishek Sharma smashed 30 off 16 balls, while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 20 off 9 balls. Captain Suryakumar Yadav added an beaten 7 off 2 balls to seal the game.
The only blip in the chase was the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma, who was caught by Haider Ali off Junaid Siddique, with the score at 48.
India’s emphatic win boosts their confidence and net run rate as they advance in the tournament with serious momentum.

UAE batting-line
UAE got off to a promising start with openers Alishan Sharafu and captain Muhammad Waseem putting on 26 runs for the first wicket. Sharafu looked particularly sharp, scoring a brisk 22 off 17 balls, while Waseem added 19 off 22.
However, the breakthrough came via Jasprit Bumrah, and from there, the collapse was brutal.
The star of the show was Kuldeep Yadav, who spun a web around the UAE batters. He returned exceptional figures, claiming four wickets and triggering a middle-order meltdown.
Shivam Dube added to the destruction with 3 wickets, while Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, and Bumrah chipped in with one apiece. The Indian bowling attack was clinical, coordinated, and completely dominant.
With seven players failing to score more than three runs, UAE were shot out for just 57 runs, their lowest ever in Asia Cup history.
Muhammad Rohid, unbeaten on two, could only watch from the other end as the wickets tumbled in a dramatic collapse.
Earlier, India’s cricket team chose to field first after winning the toss against UAE, aimed at restricting the rivals to a limited target.
