India beat Pakistan in Asian Hockey Champions Trophy

Chennai: India on Wednesday defeated Pakistan in the final group stage of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2023, knocking Pakistan out of the tournament.

India emerged as the top team in the group stage, while Pakistan’s journey came to an end in the semi-finals following a 4-0 defeat.

In the match, Harmanpreet Singh netted two goals in the initial half, followed by Gurjan Singh’s score in the third quarter, securing a commanding 3-0 lead for India and sealing the match against Pakistan.

Pakistan initially gained a goal in the opening quarter, but the initial decision was overturned following a prompt review.

While Pakistan, Japan, and Korea all accumulated an identical number of points, it was the latter two teams that advanced to the semi-finals thanks to a superior goal difference.
