WEB DESK: UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones generate buzz among fans with hints of a major announcement expected this week.

This has led to speculation about a possible clash with interim champion, Tom Aspinall.

Despite previously downplaying likelihood of facing Aspinall, citing the need for a significant financial incentive, Jones’ recent social media activity reignited interest in a potential title fight.

On Wednesday, Jon Jones posted a message that read, “in 24 hours, I’ll be making a huge announcement! #Andstill”. This immediately led to huge speculation among fans about a possible matchup with Aspinall.

UFC President Dana White expressed a strong belief that the fight will occur in 2025, but he also warned that Jones could lose his title if he does not finalise a definite match within a certain timeframe.

Jones last stepped into the octagon in November, where he achieved a third-round TKO victory over former heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic.

Meanwhile, Aspinall last competed in July, securing a rapid TKO win against Curtis Blaydes. Following the fight, Aspinall made it clear that his next match must be for the undisputed heavyweight champion.

However, the highly awaited announcement took an unexpected direction when Jones revealed his support for a non-profit organisation focused on reforming the United States healthcare system.

In his social media posts, he criticised the current healthcare landscape for placing financial burdens on US citizens and announced his collaboration with a foundation, Power to the Patients.

While the announcement addressed an important issue, it left many fans feeling disappointed, as they had hoped for news regarding his return to the octagon.

Social media reactions reflected this frustration, with some fans voicing their anger. Even Dana White chimed in, indicating that there are no current obstacles in negotiations, despite circulating rumours that Jones is requesting $30 million for a potential fight with Aspinall.
