Khushdil Shah: Karachi Kings’ Diamond pick shines in BPL

Khushdil Shah: Karachi Kings' Diamond in BPL

LAHORE: Karachi Kings have added all-rounder Khushdil Shah to their squad in the Diamond category for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10.

The draft for the 10th iteration of the PSL kicked off on Monday.

Khushdil Shah is Karachi Kings’ sole local all-rounder pick in the Diamond category.

Khushdil, 29, has been a regular in the PSL since making his debut in 2017, having previously represented Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans. In 48 innings, he has scored 693 runs at a strike rate of 140.85 and picked up 24 wickets at an average of 20.12.

He joins pacer Hasan Ali and England’s James Vince in Karachi Kings’ Diamond category. Hasan, retained ahead of the draft, is expected to lead the pace attack, while Vince, a key batter for the franchise, brings stability to the top order.

Khushdil Shah has also featured in 37 white-ball internationals for Pakistan since making his debut in 2019.

Hours after his selection in the PSL draft, the all-rounder continued his fine form in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), smashing an unbeaten 73 off 35 balls for Rangpur Riders against Khulna Tigers in Sylhet. His marvelous innings, featuring four fours and six sixes, helped reach Rangpur to 186-5.

Rangpur, the only unbeaten team in the BPL, had a shaky start at 30-2 in the powerplay before Khushdil Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed put energy to the innings. The duo added 115-runs before Iftikhar fell for 43.

Khushdil Shah scoring back to back boundaries not only ensured Rangpur maintain their winning streak, but also further cemented his standing as a dynamic T20 player and a best pick for Karachi Kings.
