BERLIN: Brazilian teenager Estevao scored a 95th minute winner as Chelsea inflicted a third consecutive defeat on Liverpool with a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Defending champions Liverpool now trail leaders Arsenal by one point at the top of the Premier League table.
Yamal to miss Spain’s World Cup qualifiers
Separately, Lamine Yamal has been ruled out of Spain’s World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria this month after suffering a recurrence of his groin injury, Barcelona said on Friday.
The 18-year-old winger is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks after the problem resurfaced following Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Yamal made his first start in that match since August after missing four games while recovering from a groin injury. It drew the ire of Barcelona coach Hansi Flick who felt it was made worse by playing in September’s World Cup qualifiers.
Additionally, teenage forward Christian Kofane scored his first Bundesliga goal as Bayer Leverkusen secured a 2-0 victory over Union Berlin on Saturday, earning their second consecutive league win and climbing into the top four.
With star striker Patrik Schick sidelined due to injury, Leverkusen initially found it difficult to break through Union’s defence. But a well-worked team move ended with Ernest Poku tapping in from 10 metres to give the hosts the lead.
Shortly after the break, Kofane, a Cameroon U-20 international, capitalised on a mistake by Union goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow to double Leverkusen’s lead. It marked the 19-year-old’s first league goal — coming just three days after he opened his European account in a 1-1 Champions League draw against PSV Eindhoven.
