MUNICH: Bayern Munich have landed a major summer coup, completing the signing of Colombian star Luis Diaz from Premier League champions Liverpool in a deal worth up to €75 million, the third-most expensive transfer in the Bundesliga giants’ history.

The 28-year-old winger, known for his electrifying pace and relentless drive, has penned a contract with Bayern until 2029, bringing an end to a trophy-laden spell at Anfield. During his time with the Reds, Diaz helped deliver the Premier League title, FA Cup, and two League Cups, cementing his place as one of the Premier League’s most explosive forwards.

“In Luis Diaz, we’ve brought in one of the top left wingers in world football,” said Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. “He’s a proven winner, a player with grit and glory in his DNA.”

Diaz, who netted 17 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions last season, said he was “very happy” with the move and ready for the challenge. “FC Bayern are one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to help this team lift every possible title — that’s our daily goal,” he declared.

The Colombian international fills a crucial void in Bayern’s attack, following injuries to Jamal Musiala and the departures of Thomas Müller and Leroy Sane. His arrival adds firepower to Vincent Kompany’s revamped squad as the club eyes domestic dominance and a return to Champions League glory.

Diaz bid an emotional farewell to Liverpool, thanking fans and vowing to “treasure forever” his time on Merseyside. He is set to begin training immediately and could make his debut in Bayern’s friendly against Lyon on Saturday.

With Diaz now in red again Bayern have made a statement: they’re not just rebuilding, they’re reloading.
