MADRID: In a bizarre twist that even M Night Shyamalan could not have come up with, Manchester City’s Mathues Nunes traded in his football skills for a pair of handcuffs, even if for a day.
The Portuguese midfielder decided to take a detour to the Spanish capital, where he decided his life was a bit too boring and needed some excitement right out of a movie scene.

However, as our footballer-hero was soon to realise, real life is not like movies and his little daring heist proved fatal.
Mathues Nunes was rumoured to be heading the Atletico Madrid this summer. Those might now be dashed and all it cost was a single night out in the famous Spanish city!
According to reports, the football was enjoying himself at a nightclub when he reportedly decided to add “cell phone burglar” to his list of skills.
The 26-year-old allegedly grabbed someone’s mobile phone, who was trying to apparently capture the moment with the footballer.
Following his 15 seconds of Mission Impossible-level heist skills, the footballer found himself escorted by the Spanish law enforcers to the local police station.
Sticking true to a heist movie, the Portuguese was soon after released, begging the question, was it the Russians? The French? Or simply, the low scale of the crime? One may never know!
What is known, however, is that maybe, our 26-year-old football star will now harbour a new-found appreciation for personal property.
Nunes now awaits judgement from a presiding judge. Hope the prison seat was as warm as the bench in the upcoming football matches!
