Mike Tyson turbulence: A mid-flight health scare

MIAMI: Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson experienced a medical scare while aboard a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday.

According to reports, the boxer fell ill during the flight. This led to appeals for passengers with medical expertise to come forward and offer assistance.

The incident occurred as Tyson’s flight was en route to Los Angeles, with the boxer reportedly feeling unwell while in the air. Concerns were raised, leading to a call for medical assistance from fellow passengers. Paramedics were also summoned to the aircraft upon its arrival in Los Angeles. This resulted in a delay of almost half an hour for disembarking.

Representatives for Tyson reassured the public, stating that he is “doing great” following the incident. They attributed his discomfort to a flare-up of an ulcer, which caused him to feel nauseous and dizzy for half an hour before the plane landed.

Despite the health scare, Mike Tyson said he was focused on his upcoming return to the boxing ring. Scheduled to fight YouTuber-boxer Jake Paul on July 20, Tyson said he is gearing up for his next bout.

Tyson’s upcoming fight against Jake Paul is generating significant attention within the boxing community. Despite a significant age difference between the two fighters, with Tyson being 30 years older than Paul, the match is expected to be watched by millions.

The infamous YouTuber is known for his confident demeanour bordering on arrogance. He said he is looking forward to challenging Tyson during the match. Jack Paul dismissed any notions of taking it “easy” on the boxing legend.

In preparation for the fight, Tyson has been diligently training and reportedly “confronting his fears head-on”.

The fight against Jake Paul marks Tyson’s return to competitive boxing since his exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr in 2020 that ended in a draw. With a highly decorated career as the undisputed world heavyweight champion in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Tyson retired from professional boxing in 2005.
