ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed former captain Misbah-ul-Haq as an advisor to the Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf for cricket affairs on Monday.

Haq, while talking about his appointment, stated that the appointment was honorary and will not receive any remuneration for his services.

He said that he had a meeting with Ashraf at the PCB headquarters on Monday, during which he was offered a full-time position with an attractive salary. He further added that owing to the prior commitments, he declined the offer but agreed to provide suggestions to address PCB’s domestic and other cricket-related matters.

Former captain had previously stated that the PCB did not get in touch with him regarding a comeback as head coach or chief selector for the national team. He said that a number of commitments made it challenging for him to start working with the Pakistan squad right away.

Following Pakistan’s success in the International Cricket Council Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019, under Mickey Arthur’s leadership, Misbah took on the dual role of team selection and coaching in September 2019. When Ramiz Raja became PCB chairman in September 2021, he opted to step down as national team head coach.
