Muhammad Asif makes history with 147 break in snooker championship

WEB DESK: Muhammad Asif made headlines by scoring a break of 147 (the highest possible score in the game) in the National Snooker Championship.
The national snooker player achieved this fear against Ali Raza.

Muhammad Asif is the second Pakistani to record a 147 break in the National Snooker Championship’s history. He is also the fourth Pakistani overall to achieve this milestone.
Saleh Mohammad was the first, scoring a 147 in the Asian Championship in 2008, following by Muhammad Sajjad with a 147 on 2021 National Championship.
Ahsan Ramzan also made a 147 break in the World Under-21 Championship in March 2022.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Asif to congratulate him on his recent win at the SAARC Snooker Championship in Sri Lanka. The snooker player was presented with a cheque of Rs2.5 million.
Shehbaz praised Muhammad Asif for bringing ‘honour’ to the country in snooker. “You have brightened the name of Pakistan in the game of snooker, and the entire nation is proud of you”.
Shehbaz talked about the importance of supporting young athletes and pledged his government’s commitment to provide facilities for their development.

Muhammad Asif thanked the head of government for the recognition and mentioned the role of governments in helping support sports.
