Pakistan loses first wicket chasing a formidable target

BENGALURU: In a high-stakes encounter at the World Cup 2023, New Zealand has set a formidable target of 402 runs for Pakistan to secure victory. The thrilling showdown unfolded with exceptional performances from the Kiwi side, led by standout players Richan Ravindra and Kane Williamson.

Rachin Ravindra shone with a remarkable century, notching up 108 runs to anchor New Zealand’s innings. Kiwi captain Kane Williamson was not far behind, contributing a valuable 95 runs to the team’s total.

Pakistan chooses to bowl first

Further bolstering the team’s scorecard, Mark Chapman posted 39 runs, while Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell added 35 and 29 runs, respectively. Glenn Phillips, with a spirited performance, also chipped in with 41 runs.

The Pakistani bowlers faced tough competition, with three wickets falling to Mohammad Wasim Jr. Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Iftikhar Ahmed each claimed one wicket, showcasing their skills amid New Zealand’s powerful batting display.

In the chase innings, Pakistan lost its first wicket after only six runs, when Abdullah Shafique got catch-out after scoring four runs.
