LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that no decision has yet been taken to remove Babar Azam as captain of T20 team.

Talking informally to sports journalists in Lahore on Thursday, Mohsin Naqvi said he was in contact with former best cricketers, seeking advise on how to improve cricket in Pakistan.

The PCB chief made in clear that he never makes a decision when he is angry.

On Pakistan’s failure in the World Cup, Chairman PCB said that those responsible in the selection committee for making wrong decisions will be held accountable.

He acknowledged that there were flaws in the World Cup selection committee 2024 and indicated action on it.

“There were wrong decisions in the selection, those responsible will be held accountable,” Mohsin Naqvi said.

“It will be known soon who will remain in the selection committee and who will not. No decision has been taken to withdraw the captaincy from Babar Azam,” Naqvi said.

“I also felt mistakes were made by Babar Azam,” Naqvi maintained.

“Hasty, angry decisions are harmful,’ Naqvi cautioned. The reasons for the failure of the World Cup have been mentioned in the report of Gary Kirsten. “Those former cricketers whose livelihood is not TV channels will take over the system,” Mohsen Naqvi said.

“There will be a post-mortem in the central contract, it will be subject to fitness,” Mohsin Naqvi said.

“The players will have to give all the fitness tests,” the PCB chairman said. He clarified that no NOCs will be found for the league before the Bangladesh series.

“International cricketers also have to play domestic cricket for selection in the team,” he said.
