LOS ANGELES: The Los Dodgers and Shohei Ohtani would confirm their place in the Major League Basbeball (MLB) World Series on Sunday, after beating the New York Mets ten to five in game six of the National League Championship Series (NLCS).
The Mets would strike first on a base hit from Pete Alonso that sent the ball high before it landed in the infield. Chris Taylor would throw the ball to first, which ricocheted off the first baseman’s glove before hurtling into the outfield.
The Dodgers would equalise immediately, in the bottom of the first after Tommy Edman yanked a ball into left field, allowing both Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez to come in to score. Edman wasn’t satisfied with his RBI double in the first, so he hit a two-run bomb to deep left centre field in the bottom of the third. Will Smith would join the party soon after, hitting his own two run home run, making the score six to one.
The top of the fourth would feature another home run, courtesy of the Mets this time as they tried to claw their way back into the game. Third baseman Mark Vientos would smash the ball to deep centre field for a two-run home run.

Ohtani would keep the Dodgers offense going in the bottom of the sixth, hitting a base hit that Tyrone Taylor wasn’t able to catch, allowing Will Smith to score. Francisco Alvarez would return fire in the top of the seventh, as he hit a sacrifice fly to Mookie Betts, who wasn’t able to throw it back in time to stop Taylor from scoring.
The score would be eight to four for the Dodgers as the teams entered the bottom of the eight, but it wouldn’t stay that way for long, as Betts hit a RBI double towards deep left field, clearing the way for Chris Taylor to score. Then Hernandez would hit a sacrifice fly to Marte in right field, and Ohtani would come in to score.
Enrique Hernandez would bring home the last run of the game for the Dodgers, hitting a ground ball base hit to right that would give Edman ample time to reach home.
The Mets would only be able to get one run back in the top of the ninth, as Jeff McNeil hit a fly ball to second, which ricocheted off Taylor’s glove, allowing a runner to score.
