NEW YORK: The Los Angeles Dodgers blew out the New York Mets eight runs to zero on Wednesday, taking a 2-1 lead in the National League Championship Series (NLCS) behind home runs from Shohei Ohtani, Enrique Hernandez, and Max Muncy.
The Dodgers would strike for the first time in the top of the second, as a cutter from Luis Severino was hit right back to him by Will Smith, deflecting off the pitcher’s glove, and allowing Max Muncy who was on third, to come in to score.
Tommy Edman would help to increase the Dodgers lead immediately, hitting a sacrifice fly that allowed Teoscar Hernandez to reach home. The high fly ball to right centre field could have been even more detrimental for the Mets, had Tyrone Taylor not taken an incredible sliding catch.
After Severino allowed two walks in the top of the third, a hit from Max Muncy which sent the ball to right field loaded the bases, putting Shoehi Ohtani on third. However Severino would be able to strand the runners after his sweeper was hit right back to him by Gavin Lux, calmy throwing it to first to end the inning.

Enrique Hernandez got the first home run of the game, hitting a bomb towards left field off a splitter from Reed Garret. With Tommy Edman on second, the Dodgers doubled their lead, making it four to nothing in the sixth.
Ohtani would obliterate a cutter from Tylor Megill in the top of the eighth for a three-run home run, launching it 410 feet high and towards right field into the second deck. Inches away from being a foul ball, it stayed fair, increasing the dodgers lead, making the score seven to nothing.
Max Muncy would end the Mets despair, leading off in the ninth with a bomb towards right field that landed in the second deck, topping off an already incredible game from the third basemen in which he reached base all four times before the home run.
The final score would be 8-0 for the Los Angeles Dodgers, allowing them to take a two to one lead over the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series.
