Pakistan all out for 344, lead by 77 in decider against England

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan made 344 runs before getting all out in their first innings of the final test against England, behind an incredible batting performance by Saud Shakeel.

Shakeel made a huge impact, scoring 134 runs off 222 balls. He would be dismissed in the 96th over, after popping the ball up straight to mid-wicket, where Matthew Potts was waiting to take the catch. The Pakistani batter came on the field when the men in green had only made 46 runs and had lost three wickets. He was dismissed after Pakistan were leading by 70.

Sajid Khan was also pivotal in bolstering Pakistan’s score near the end of their innings. He made the second highest score of the innings, falling just short of half century at 48 runs made off 48 balls, blasting two fours and four sixes on the way. Together with Shakeel, the two made the second highest partnership of the innings, scoring 72 runs off 78 balls.

Noman Ali also put up a much needed 45 runs off 84 balls, the third highest score of the innings. He also fell just short of a half century after being dismissed by Shoaib Bashir who found the knee roll on the pads of the Pakistani batter. Shakeel hit five fours, while Noman hit two fours and one six.

Zahid Mehmood was the last man to get out for Pakistan, being dismissed for a duck on the very first ball he faced. He was bowled by Rehan Ahmed, who took four wickets in the innings.

Pakistan ended their innings on 344 runs, putting up a lead of 77 runs.
