Pakistan crushes Sri Lanka 9-0 for back-to-back wins at U-18 Asia Hockey Cup

DAZHOU: Pakistan’s under-18 hockey team continued its dominant run at the Men’s U-18 Asia Hockey Cup 2025, thrashing Sri Lanka 9-0 in their second group match on Sunday.
The green shirts had already made a strong statement in their tournament opener, defeating Hong Kong 8-0.

Both matches were played in the Chinese city of Dazhou, where Pakistan maintained complete control from the outset, securing back-to-back one-sided victories.
Placed in Group A, Pakistan faces stiff competition from China, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong. With two comprehensive wins under their belt, the team currently leads the group standings with 17 points.
Pakistan is scheduled to face Bangladesh on July 8, followed by a clash with hosts China on July 9.
Pakistan is striving to revive the glory it once enjoyed in its national game, hockey.
It finished as the runner-up in the Men’s FIH Hockey Nations Cup 2025.
The Green Shirts delivered a stunning performance but were defeated by New Zealand 6-2 in the final.
According to the Asian Hockey Federation, the tournament, running from July 3 to 13, features 11 men’s teams: Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan.
The women’s edition of the U-18 Asia Cup is also underway, featuring teams from Japan, China, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, Sri Lanka, and Kazakhstan.
