Pakistan suffers defeat to Iran in Asian Snooker Championship

DOHA: Pakistan’s seasoned cueist Awais Munir lost to Iran’s Ali Gharahgozlou in the Asian Men’s Snooker Championship 2024 finals held on Friday in Doha, Qatar.

Awais started the final energetically, clinching the first two frames with scores of 67-17 and 73-1. A notable break of 57 in the second frame further showed his prowess.

However, the tide turned as his opponent responded aggressively, and went on to dominate the subsequent frames. The Iranian cueist seized control of the match and won the five consecutive frames.

Ali Gharahgozlou emerged the victor and won the gold medal with an impressive 5-2 triumph over Awais.

Awais Munir won the silver medal as the runner-up, acknowledging the stellar performance of his opponent and showcasing sportsmanship in defeat.
