LAHORE/MANCHESTER: Pakistan Shaheens’ Haider Ali was granted bail on Thursday following his arrest by UK authorities on August 3 in connection to a rape accusation. He was accused of rape in an incident that allegedly occurred on July 23 in Manchester, United Kingdom.

The right-handed batter is currently under a formal police investigation b the Greater Manchester authorities.
Despite being granted bail, he remains subject to travel restrictions after his passport was confiscated.
Following his arrest, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) imposed an immediate provisional suspension; barring the 24-year-old from participating in any cricket-related activities while the investigation is ongoing.

In the post on X (Twitter), the PCB stated that, “he Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been made aware of a criminal investigation currently being conducted by the Greater Manchester Police involving cricketer Haider Ali.”
In an official statement, the PCB stated it fully intended to support all its players. “In line with its duty of care and responsibility to ensure the welfare and legal rights of all its players, the PCB has ensured that Haider Ali has received appropriate legal support to protect his rights throughout this process”.

However, it also said that the sports body fully respected and supported the UK rule of law; it fully intended to follow due legal and ethical procedures. “The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and acknowledges the importance of allowing the investigation to run its due course.”
