ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) faces a setback as Brazilian Coach Issanaye Ramires Ferraz departs from his coaching role to join the Korean national volleyball team. Ferraz, who has been instrumental in Pakistan’s recent successes, including a remarkable victory over Korea at the Asian Games last year, has been lured by an enticing offer from Korea.

Currently, PVF compensates Ferraz with a monthly salary of approximately $4,000. However, Korea’s offer not only doubles his monthly earnings but also provides comprehensive benefits, including accommodation for his family and education for his children in esteemed institutions.
The allure of such a lucrative package proved irresistible to Ferraz, prompting his decision to leave Pakistan’s coaching setup. Ch Mohammad Yaqoob, Chairman of PVF, expressed disappointment at losing the services of a highly talented coach. He acknowledged Ferraz’s significant contributions in elevating Pakistan’s volleyball status in Asia, citing the team’s remarkable ascent to the fifth position under Ferraz’s guidance.

Chairman Yaqoob highlighted PVF’s financial constraints, stating that the federation cannot match the attractive offer extended by Korea. Nevertheless, he reassured stakeholders that PVF is actively exploring alternative coaching options to fill the impending vacancy left by Ferraz’s departure.
With April marking Ferraz’s final month with the Pakistani team, PVF is swiftly strategizing to secure a suitable replacement for the revered Brazilian coach. – INP
