Pakistan’s Women’s Beach Volleyball team triumphs over Kyrgyzstan in historic debut

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Women’s Beach Volleyball team secured a historic victory against Kyrgyzstan during the Central Asian Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship hosted in Bangladesh on Wednesday.

The Green Shirts, in their first international match, achieved a hard-fought victory, a big accomplishment for their country.

Initially, Pakistan struggled, yielding the first set to Kyrgyzstan with a score of 21-11 in favor of the opponents. However, displaying remarkable resilience, the Girls in Green mounted a spectacular comeback, claiming the second set with a score of 14-21.

Meanwhile, in the third set, Pakistan managed to establish a narrow lead and ultimately triumphed with a score of 13-15.

With their remarkable debut victory behind them, the team is now gearing up for their second match as they will face Uzbekistan, aiming to extend their impressive journey in the Central Asian Championship.

It is pertinent to note that the Pakistan’s Women’s Beach Volleyball team underwent intensive training at a preparatory camp in Islamabad, alongside other members of the Pakistan women’s volleyball squad, in preparation for the prestigious event.

The team arrived in Bangladesh via Doha on Sunday to participate in the competition, accompanied by Coach Mohammad Zahid.

The Central Asian Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship is being held at Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh and is set to conclude on September 15. Alongside hosts Bangladesh and Pakistan, the event features teams from India, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, promising fierce competition and exciting matches throughout the tournament.
