PCB Chairman displeased with national team’s accommodation in New York

Mohsin Naqvi

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has issued directives to secure a new hotel for the national team’s stay in New York, ensuring their accommodation is more convenient for their upcoming matches.

Sources indicate that Naqvi intervened after expressing dissatisfaction with the initial arrangements to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The original hotel was a 90-minute drive from the stadium, while the newly booked hotel is just a five-minute drive away.

This change was crucial to avoid long travel times for the players, particularly ahead of their crucial matches on June 9 and 11.

Naqvi’s proactive approach included persuading event organisers to accommodate the Pakistan team’s needs. He emphasised that he would not permit the team to endure lengthy commutes on match days, ensuring their comfort and readiness for the games.

The decision follows feedback from other teams; the Indian cricket team is staying just 10 minutes from the ground, and both South Africa and Sri Lanka have previously expressed concerns about their accommodations. Ensuring the Pakistan team’s comfort and optimal performance remains a priority for Naqvi.
