PCB condemns Afghan fans following Khushdil Shah altercation

MOUNT MAUNGANUI: Following the loss to New Zealand, Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah was seen getting into an altercation with fans in the crowd.

Fans in the crowd were reportedly taunting the Pakistan team, and Khushdil attempted to confront them but was stopped by security. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) later clarified that Afghan players in the crowd were saying anti Pakistan slogans and used abusive language towards the Pakistani players.

A video of the altercation was posted by a Facebook user.

The Pakistan cricket team management condemned the behaviour of the fans. The fans then reportedly began chanting more obscene words in Pashto as they were being reprimanded. They were eventually removed from the stadium following the complaint by the Pakistan team.

Images of the incident are now circulating online.

Khushdil was previously fined 50 per cent of his match fee and given three demerit points after intentionally running into New Zealand bowler Zac Foulkes in the first T20I of the recent series, which violated Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

Khusdil did not play in any of the three ODIs.
