PCB unveils Pakistan squads for Tri-Nation T20 Series, Asia Cup

LAHORE: The wait is over for cricket fans, as the Pakistan national squad for the upcoming tri-nation T20 series and Asia Cup has been officially announced. Member of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Selection Committee Aqib Javed, and Head Coach Mike Hesson revealed the squad in a joint press conference here today.

Salman Ali Agha retains captaincy of 17-member squad, while Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf have been included in the squad for the tri-nation series. Saim Ayub, Khushdal Shah and Hussain Talat are also part of the men in green chosen to play.
Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr and Mohammad Haris also made it to the 17-member squad, along with Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Hassan Ali and Hassan Nawaz. Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Mirza and Sufiyan Muqeem will also represent Pakistan.
Pakistan, Afghanistan and UAE tri-nation series will be held in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7.
The Asia Cup tournament will be held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from September 9-28.
According to sources, the selection process has been finalised following consultations with national captain Salman Ali Agha and head coach Hesson.

Even before the announcement of the squads, it was expected that Fakhar Zaman, despite currently undergoing rehabilitation, will make the cut. However, Vice-captain Shadab Khan has reportedly been ruled out due to injury.
The PCB committee has reviewed recent performances of senior players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan and they have not been included in the squads.
