PHF consults global hockey bodies over Pakistan team’s safety in India

LAHORE: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has reached out to international hockey federations to raise security concerns in India, with regards to preparations made for Pakistani hockey players.
PFF President Tariq Bugti said that discussions have been held with the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) and the International Hockey Federation [Fédération Internationale de Hockey (FIH)] regarding security arrangements for the Pakistan team in India.
He informed that both federations have been asked to clarify what security measures will be provided for the Pakistani players during their stay in India. He said that security concerns have been formally raised and that details of the arrangements have been requested.

Bugti added that players have also expressed reservations about traveling to India. He noted that the PHF has conveyed to the international bodies that the final decision on participation will be made by the Government of Pakistan.
“We are in contact with the government and will abide by whatever decision it makes,” Bugti said. He expressed hope that the AHF and the FIH will respond to the security-related concerns soon.
